Are you interested in Buddhism but don’t know where to start? Have you heard words like dharma and karma and samsara thrown around and wondered what they meant or why they mattered? Do you want to get a quick overview of Buddhist Meditation without making a long-term commitment?

In this Introduction to Buddhist Meditation class David will provide a broad, simple overview of these and other key aspects of Buddhism. There is no required reading, no homework and no quizzes! There is, however, a suggested reading list for those who want to read more. Topics covered include:

  • The Four Noble Truths
  • Different kinds of Buddhism: Theravadan, Mahayana, Vajrayana, etc.
  • Buddha’s teachings in a gradual form for the practice of one individual…where to start, what next, etc.
  • A brief introduction to meditation.

There is no sign-up required to attend this Introduction to Buddhism lecture, but you might want to come early to get a seat!

Lynn has been a student of  Vedic Astrology for over 40 years, mostly in California. She discovered it in 2005 and was astonished at how it improved her ability to read accurately for clients. She is a graduate of the American College of Vedic Astrology and Kepler College.

The Vedic system originated in ancient India, and was documented by sages in the Vedic scriptures. Also known as “Jyotish”-the science of light,  dealing with astral light patterns that are thought to determine our destiny.

Planetary Weather March 2014

MARCH 2014 PLANETARY WEATHER by Lynn the Astrologer
The New Moon on March 1is at 15 degrees Aquarius and the Full Moon is at 1 degree Virgo on March 16. The most significant planet movement is Mars, which having gone into Libra last month, reaches its station on March 1 and on March 7 goes back into Virgo, where it remains until July 13. Thus it is back into a challenging relationship with Uranus in Pisces, Jupiter in Gemini and Pluto in Sagittarius for the whole spring season. I do not expect the international situation will improve at all and it is likely to worsen! The Sun enters Pisces on the 15th, Mercury remains in Aquarius and Venus in Capricorn.
I have spent a lot of time with people who have had various crises related to the clumping up of planets in sidereal Libra (Scorpio in western astrology): Saturn, the North Node or Rahu, and now Mars. You know who you are! Matters which began in early November now require action! The way these events play out are different for each individual, but the most important factor is your Ascendant or rising sign. For some this is a challenging but exciting time for taking action, while others find themselves questioning their life purpose or feeling blindsided by events. Gaining perspective through a birth chart reading is one excellent way to gain some perspective.
